Some love stories feel destined from the start, and Rachel and Christian’s is certainly one of them. It all began just weeks before their college graduation seven years ago. Despite attending the same school for years, their paths had never crossed until their mutual friend, Lesley (big shout out to her!), decided to play matchmaker. She thought they’d make great friends due to their shared interests, and she was absolutely right. From that moment, luck was on their side, and their relationship blossomed into something truly magical.
The proposal day was perfectly planned, albeit with some humorous twists. Christian orchestrated a visit to the Museum of Natural History, Rachel’s favorite place in the city and the backdrop for many of their early dates. To add a bit of surprise, he had Rachel’s brother make plans with her, only to cancel at the last minute. “I wanted to keep her on her toes,” Christian explains. The day continued with a walk through Central Park, a spot filled with nostalgic memories for the couple.
Christian chose a secluded, serene spot in the park to pop the question, making it a private and tender moment. Rachel fondly remembers, “Minutes before he proposed, I reached for his hand and it was so clammy that I recoiled and asked him why he was so sweaty. It all makes sense now!” she laughs. The surprises didn’t end there; back home, their family and closest friends were waiting to celebrate their engagement.
Choosing the perfect ring was a collaborative effort, driven by Rachel’s clear vision. “Rachel really wanted something classic yet unique. She knew she wanted an emerald cut and a thick gold band,” Christian shares. Rachel took her planning seriously, even creating a PowerPoint presentation about the important aspects of ring selection, complete with details on the 4 C’s. “I can confidently say I know it all now,” Christian jokes. The final slide featured her dream ring – the Lou. Rachel was delighted to be involved in selecting her diamond and trying on the prototype, making the process even more special. “We’re so happy that Eliette is a part of our story,” Christian adds.
Their engagement day was filled with love, laughter, and precious moments. One of Rachel’s favorite memories from the after-party is captured in a photo where her dad, before giving her a hug, first had to check out her stunning new ring.
Congratulations to the future Mr. and Mrs. Mosquera! 🥹
