When Laura walked into the Austin coffee shop where Claire was working as a barista, neither imagined their quick chat over coffee would change their lives. “She had just moved into the apartment complex next door,” Claire recalls. “Since I knew our regulars well, I knew she must be new to town. I asked where she was from, and we immediately hit it off.”
But timing wasn’t on their side. Claire left the job soon after, and they lost touch—until fate stepped in. “Three months later, my friend who still worked there overheard that Laura was single and gave her my number,” Claire says. “When Laura found out it was me, she said, ‘I’ve been looking for her.’” Their first date—fittingly, at another coffee shop—felt meant to be. “We both recall that first conversation as something kismet. We knew this was special immediately.”
From early on, they dreamed of a mutual proposal. Laura surprised Claire first, planning a garden picnic at their favorite restaurant before a celebratory dinner with loved ones. “She told me to turn down a different path where she had organized a picnic for us to have a private moment together,” Claire says.
Claire’s turn came in Oaxaca, where she arranged for a florist to decorate their balcony with flowers and candles. “When we came back from dinner, I proposed there and had a photographer take us on a tour around the city for engagement photos,” she shares. Their proposals mirrored their personalities—Laura’s spontaneous, Claire’s intentional—but both full of love.
Both chose completely bespoke Eliette rings.
When we asked the couple why they chose Eliette they said:
“We were drawn to Eliette because of the blend of modern and traditional styles of your rings. We wanted to have the ability to custom make our rings to complement each other. We loved a few of the styles and were inspired to blend some of the details together to customize our own special rings. When we had originally reached out to see if making those customizations were possible, we were still searching for the perfect company or jeweler to work with. It was the consistent care and attention we received that gave us the confidence to work with Eliette. Jenny went back and forth with us over the smallest details for weeks and we were able to get our perfect rings. We recommend Eliette to everyone who asks. It was such a smooth experience and so fulfilling to see our visions come to life. I loved being able to pick out our diamonds too and I thought that even though we were designing the rings virtually, it still felt like each email and interaction was treated with great intentionality.”
From coffee shop meet-cute to dual destination proposals, Laura and Claire’s love story is proof that timing—and a bit of serendipity—can turn the simplest encounters into forever.
